Lauren Cisse compassionately offers hope, support, and healing to individuals, couples, and families struggling with intimacy and trauma.
Healing begins in an atmosphere of acceptance and authenticity. Lauren’s extensive experience with diverse populations, including those with developmental disabilities, chronic illness, and end-of-life issues, as well as trauma survivors, LGBTQIA+ individuals, BIPOC, and those dealing with substance use, instills confidence in her ability to embrace and support diverse needs. Her broad experience ensures she can provide support and understanding to everyone she works with. Lauren’s trained in trauma-informed care, compassion fatigue, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MCBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), somatic/biofeedback therapies, end-of-life care, and grief. Her therapeutic approach, which often draws from nature to illustrate that change is natural and not to be feared, reassures and comforts her clients. Lauren’s journey with spina bifida has deepened her understanding of how inherent challenges can shape one’s story. This unique experience allows her to connect with clients on a deeper level, fostering a sense of understanding and empathy. Lauren shares her insights at national and local conferences on disability inclusion in medical settings, comprehensive care, disability and sexuality, and the importance of creating strong relationships between clients and providers. Before joining Kavod, Lauren was a Behavioral Health Counselor at CP Rochester and Anthony Jordan Health Center, providing clients with comprehensive mental health care and services.
